Travelling by road from Bangalore to Coimbatore?

Question

I will be travelling from Bangalore to Coimbatore and want some advice on selecting the route and the road condition. I also, want to avoid the Ghat road.

My available route options are -

AH 43/NH 7 and NH 47/Salem-Coimbatore Highway

NH 209

AH 43/NH 7

Best route :Bangalore -> Coimbatore via NH7 till Salem and via NH47 from Salem -> coimbatore.

it takes 5 hrs to cover the entire distance. From Bangalore till Salem bypass it is straight road (no deviations). Just before reaching salem bypass take the new flyover to reach NH 47.



alternatively you can take NH 209 through the forests but the route is unpredictable.There might be delays due to road blocks or wild life. but the trip would be thrilling.

The best, option: Upto Omalur on the National Highway.

At Omalur, near Ambedkar Statue, go to Erode via Taramangalam. This road is sparsely used and not much crowded. By this you can not only avoid Salem Traffic, but save about 3 hours and some 50 odd KMs. I had traveled several times by this.

he best enjoyable road route is Bangalore-mysore-bandipur forest-Ooty-Coimbatore



You can really enjoy with breadthtaking scenic view of the entire places particularly Ooty road
